DevHub
A few days ago I came across an article on DevHub. I had never heard of them before, so I went and checked out the site, then I signed up. I made 5 sites with them and I intend to make more, but the main difference I see between DevHub and HubPages (besides the advertising ability and the ability to make web pages) is that there is no encouragement within the community to check out others DevHubs. So other than promotion on social networks (which is boring), I don't see how anyone could ever find your sites, except by providing backlinks on every place you have a net presence. Check my sites out.
I have many sites I have built like this for free and have been doing so for a few years now. The only advantage I've seen with DevHub so far is that, like HubPages, DevHub gets their Google ranking high and quick. Using Google Webmaster tools though, one can do that with any site.
What's Up With Open Source?
Everything that I have had experience with that is open source has a gamey/cheesy feel to it. DevHub is no different. Don't get me wrong. I feel great about building sites through DevHub, this is just something I have noticed from using Audacity, Ubuntu, and Linux Mint. It just seems like they all want to over simplify things.
Features of DevHub
DevHub allows the user to create monetized ads like hotels, car rentals, flights, Amazon, Click Bank, classifieds, and allow you to suggest your own. You have to "play the game" by following along and completing suggested tasks for your sites to earn enough coins (990) to buy the embed widgets/code module. If you have plenty of sites in mind to build, then this won't be a problem, but if you are only making a blog site, you better blog a lot. Click this link to check them out.
