As A Writer

On Being A Writer:

My responsibility as a writer

is to bring to blossom every idea.

This means to make sure my writings are packed

with multiple meaning

and that my choice of words is unique.

That uniqueness has to have a certain quality to it,

which would be considered to be my

personality.

That uniqueness has to be

consistently

reliable so that it takes on a life of its own.

I feel it is the job

of a writer to develop this writing

trait to a maximum.

(It is my lifes goal to see Tatoetry as a genre in bookstores)

It should be the inherent duty

of any artist

to communicate a sense of intelligent development

towards the community of their common man.

That means that their art advances

their culture in some way,

whether it be creative in imagination,

or technical.

It means that we advance our culture

towards trust.

Trust made with a handshake

and not lawyers.

A world in which

barristers don't exist.

A world in which we move through

with an unspoken creed

of respect for our common man.

In which we move through without

leaving devastation,

but positive.

One that helps, not hurts.

One that heals and forgives

and moves on in mutual understanding.

(This is the true metaphor of Eden. Utopia)

Imagine what creativity would be like

if you could insulate yourself

and create your own utopia

just how you imagine it could be

with unlimited finances

because there would be no such thing

as money.

It is our inherent responsibility as artists

to strive for that goal in ernst

because that kind of out of the box thinking

could change the world one day.

It is a structured world

of good ethical decisions and practices.

One of manners

and polite common sense.

(It has the sensation of being special)

There is no time

through history

of such a world peace,

and these are the times which need that peace the most

because it will just get worse.

(There's always been a lot of doomsday news)

With that said

I write a lot about writing,

and I write a lot about my writing.

My style comes from a wide range

of influences including myself.

Because of my discipline in music

I have taken a lot of my ideas about writing from

my knowledge of composition, orchestration

and theory.

I have also incorporated ideas

into my writing found in architecture,

construction, psychology,

philosophy and other mediums of the arts.

I believe writing stimulates

our sense of vision

(By the look of the words on the page, their fonts, their punctuations)

(Their indentations curved graciously around hard corners)

our sense of smell

(All books new and old have their own scent to them; even magazines and newspapers; coupon books)

our sense of hearing

(Ever notice the different tamboral qualities of different papers?)

The sensation of touch

(All covers are different as well as page texture)

Cookbooks are the tastiest.

When I started writing

I quickly realized

that I had to be different

to stand out and gain readership,

so I invented the idea of Tatoetry.

Tatoetry is defined as any kind of literature

which utilizes standard

and custom literary devices

designed to leave an impression on the readers mind.

(I guess it could be thought of as a kind of subliminal mind control, but it's not)

It's really just a suggestion

in a pointillistic, impressionistic employment.

Tatoetry uses such devices

such as Remote Audience Participation

(Or RAP for short)

and Conceptual Continuity

making each piece relevant to the next

in a puzzle kind of way.

I use beat reversal

through syllabic rhythms

quite a bit to hold interest.

I try to write as visually as possible

and as economical as possible.

(The fewer the words I can use to describe and exact the overall image I am thinking of, the better because the reader participates in filling the rest in through their own imagination)

Reader involvement is key

so that they don't feel as though

they have wasted their time

reading something that does not respect their valuable time.

The reader should finish

with a sense of discovery

electrified newness.

They should also feel more confident and intelligent.

Employing the above

endears a reader to an author.

It empowers them to feel

as though they understand you

and know something about you that others don't.

It gives readers

their own personal experience of the author

but also provides

a communal experience

shared by all

readers alike.

Good luck on your endeavor...may I see your Tatoetry as part of the genre as you've envisioned it to be...thank you for giving a glimpse of the person behind the compositions...

Very interesting concept. I would image that your teachers had great difficulty trying to get you to keep within the lines as you wrote. I like your concepts and word play and freedom of spirit in the way you write. Good hub.

I saw that you are following me and wanted to get to know you by reading one of your hubs. I like the openness of this work. More prose than poetry, but I can certainly empathize the meaning behind it. Good work.

Hello Tim,

I can appreciate what you're trying to create with "tatoetry", rockoetry, etc.

Your work does read more like prose than poetry, but I believe it's the structure that it's being displayed on the hub page format.

Nice to meet you here...and I appreciate your sincerity in creating thought that leads to action--or at least the wrinkle of a memory on the readers' brains.

Cheers.
